About Us

Although Idlewild Construction is a new company, we are not short on experience. Our owner is Jim Martin. His construction experience began as a teenager who took on summer jobs painting to earn his gas money. After high school, he chose to enter the work force as a surveyor though he graduated valedictorian of his class and received interest from several universities including an Ivy League school.

His unique path then led him to volunteer for 13 years working on exterior renovations of high rise historical buildings in New York. Working his way from laborer to manager, this is where he honed his management skills.

Having worked with several General Contractors as a project manager for nearly 20 years, he started Martin Project Management to assist building owners manage the design and construction process. That led him to start his own General Contracting firm, Idlewild Construction so that he could offer another level of service to his clients.
